Project #1--FrontPage Web Site

You have now learned the main features of FrontPage while working on sample acitivites as a class. Now comes the time to show off all that you have learned with a Fan Page. We have examined some sample fan pages in class and now it is time for you to show tribute to a person you idolize or at least somewhat admire.

The required pages are listed below:

  1. Home Page
  2. Latest News
  3. Photo Page
  4. History & Biography
  5. Favorite Links to Other Sites (Fan Pages & Official Sites)
  6. Some Words From You
  • Also include hover buttons and use consistent theme all the way through the web site.
  • Give bibliographical and copyright information for any information you use. Follow guidelines provided by Classroom connect at www.connectedteacher.com/newsletter/citeintres.asp. The bibliography may appear as a separate web page or as a separate part of an existing page.
  • Mrs. Nelson will give you a rubrics which details specific requirements for each page.
  • Your subject must be given the a-okay from Mrs. Nelson before beginning your project.
  • Make sure your links and pages are "appropriate" for a school setting.

You will be graded on the content of your project, along with its layout and design. Get those creative juices flowing!

Project #2--HTML Web Site

You have practiced the basics of HTML while working on sample activities as a class. Now comes your opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of HTML basics. This project requires you to create a Personal Web Site.

A personal web site is one that contains information about the designer of the site. In this case the designer is YOU. A personal web site should contain information about the designer's hobbies, interests, and talents. A personal web site should contain information about where the designer lives and where the designer is from. Information about future plans and goals are often found in personal web sites. Also, personal web sites are good places to intelligently, rationally, and appropriately voice your views on issues that are important to you.

Project Activities:

  1. Conduct research on the Internet about your hobbies, your interests, and other information you might want to include in your personal web site. Make note of URLs and bookmark them.
  2. Create a storyboard of your web site. Remember that each web document (.htm or .html document) functions as a page within the hierarchy on the chart.
  3. Create the HTML documents and collect/create graphics for your web site.

Specific Project Requirements:

  1. You must use all the tags in the basic HTML reference that we discussed in class.
  2. You must use at least four HTML documents in your web site.
  3. Implement solid design principles
    *appropriate use of graphics
    *consistent layout
*good navigational design (i.e., working links)
  4. Include information about your interests, favorites, etc. and include links to other sources of information on the WWW
  5. Make sure your links are to "appropriate" sites for a school setting. If in doubt, ask Mrs. Nelson.
  6. You can incorporate color and use background images. Create the most impressive project possible working only with the basic HTML tags. You'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish.
  7. Give bibliographical and copyright information for any information you use. Follow guidelines provided by Classroom Connect at www.connected teacher.com/newsletter/citeintres.asp. The bibliography may appear as a separate HTML document or as a separate part of an existing page.

Important:

Do not give any personal information such as your home address or phone number. While we can scan in images to include on your home page, no images of students other than yourself may appear in your project without their permission.

You will be graded on the content of your project, along with its layout and design. Have fun and be creative!
